HomeFAQ
Do I need a boat licence?
No licence is required to captain a Finnish houseboat under 10 knots. Before departure, every rental includes a 1-hour navigation training session with one of our team members covering controls, charts, mooring, and safety.
How far in advance should I book?
Summer weekends (June–August) book up fast — we recommend booking 4–8 weeks in advance for peak season. Shoulder season (May, September) is more flexible. Contact us via WhatsApp if you need a last-minute booking.
What's the check-in / check-out time?
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 10:00. Early check-in from 14:00 and late departure until 11:00 are available as optional add-ons, subject to vessel availability.
Can I moor anywhere on the lake?
Yes — Finnish law (Jokamiehenoikeudet / Everyman's Rights) allows you to moor in public waters. You can anchor in beautiful bays, moor by islands, or beach the vessel on sandy shores. We provide maps and recommended spots.
What's included in the rental?
All rentals include: wood-heated sauna, rowing boat, full Wi-Fi, kitchen and cookware, life jackets, marina power connection, and 1 hour of navigation training. Fishing rods and tackle are available as a paid add-on — see our Services page for details.
Is there mobile coverage on the lake?
Yes — Finnish mobile coverage is excellent throughout the lake system. Wi-Fi is included on all vessels.
What if the weather is bad?
Houseboats are comfortable in all Finnish summer weather. In the event of a storm, the vessel should be moored safely. We monitor forecasts and will advise. Cancellations due to weather are subject to our standard cancellation policy.
Can we bring pets?
Pets are welcome on most vessels — please mention this when booking so we can confirm availability. A small additional cleaning fee may apply.
How does payment work?
Payment is processed securely through our website. We accept all major credit and debit cards. A security deposit will be charged upon check-in.
What's the minimum stay?
1 night minimum. Best value is 7+ nights, which qualifies for our 20% long-stay discount and 50% off all equipment add-ons.
Is there a toilet on board?
Yes — all vessels have an on-board incineration or composting toilet (Cinderella). Several vessels also have a shower.
How do I get to Heinola?
Heinola is approximately 130 km from Helsinki — around 90 minutes by car via E75. There are also coach connections from Helsinki. We offer a private transfer service on request.
